Software patentability and protection strategies among key themes at major San Francisco gathering

New USPTO Director Andrei Iancu has hit the ground running since taking up his post in February. After a tough few years, a series of proposed changes to examination guidelines and at the PTAB have allowed software patent owners to dream that perhaps the regulatory regime in the US may become slightly less onerous – especially as there also seems to be a growing consensus around the need for change to the laws concerning patent eligible subject matter.

IAM’s Software IP event returns to San Francisco on October 30 to discuss these issues – and a whole lot more.

Opening proceedings, industry experts from Amadeus, Facebook and Alibaba will review the patentability of software, bringing perspectives not just from the United States, but Europe and China too. Attendees will then learn how senior decision makers at Box, PayPal, Pure Storage and Oracle develop best practices for protecting software IP.

In total across five action-packed discussions and one keynote address, over 20 expert speakers will present, including representatives from the likes of Red Hat, IBM, Workday, Uber, TiVo, HPE, Google, Arm and Intel.
