YP Jou is the founder of the ScienBiziP Group and president of ScienBiziP Japan. ScienBiziP is an IP professional services group that was established by key shareholders including Foxconn and Sharp, as well as strategic partners and employees. With offices in Japan, China, Taiwan and the United States, ScienBiziP is a one-stop IP consultancy that provides a wide range of services, including IP applications, licensing, transaction, litigation, portfolio management, and pledging.
Mr Jou is also of counsel of Wispro Technology Consulting Corporation. He has led the Wispro team as it has focused on emerging industries and new technologies, providing integrated services including strategy, legal, intellectual property, investment, M&A and business models to rising start-ups, as well as multinational enterprises.
In recent years, Mr Jou has also founded InQuartik, assembling a team of skilled data scientists and dedicated software engineers to develop advanced software solutions such as Patentcloud, a comprehensive patent intelligence platform; Quality Insights and Due Diligence – one-click solutions that deliver impactful insights in an instant; Patent Vault, a collaborative workspace that facilitates effective patent lifecycle management; Design Search – an image-based, artificial intelligence-powered design patent search tool; and SEP, an Monitor the latest ETSI SEP declaration activity in one convenient place.
In addition, Mr Jou has a wide range of experience in IP transactions. He also founded MiiCs & Partners, which has offices in the United States, Japan, China and Taiwan, and specialises in IP monetisation while providing IP transaction services to clients around the world.
Mr Jou was general counsel of Foxconn for 18 years, during which he oversaw its corporate legal, M&A and IP affairs. He has also served as an adviser to Haier and the Industrial Technology Research Institute of Taiwan. Mr Jou has also served as a professor at National Chengchi University, National Cheng Kung University, and National Taiwan University of Science and Technology.
