Tom Briscoe is a registered patent attorney and global advocate for the strategic use of intellectual property for business growth.
Mr Briscoe draws upon more than two decades of high-tech R&D, business and IP strategy experience. Prior to joining Kunzler Bean & Adamson in 2016, Mr Briscoe worked from 2005 as an IP strategy director for Dako, a Danish cancer diagnostics company, until it was acquired in 2012 by Agilent Technologies where he joined the IP legal team as a patent portfolio manager for global portfolios of hundreds of patents in life science and physical science instrumentation. At Dako, Mr Briscoe led IP strategy for diagnostic and scientific instruments and for joint development projects with some of the world’s largest medical instrument companies. He also developed strategies for patent appeals and post-grant proceedings before the PTAB.
Now Mr Briscoe works together with other KB&A attorneys to represent US and international companies in IP strategy, negotiations, patent prosecution, post-grant proceedings and litigation in a wide range of product areas including medical/scientific instrumentation, sensors, industrial data loggers, the Internet of Things, storage, semiconductors, graphics workstations, biotechnology diagnostics/treatment equipment and methods, avionics, aerospace, recreational equipment and solar-powered products.
Mr Briscoe holds a JD from Brigham Young University Law School (cum laude), an executive MBA from University of Denver and MS and BS degrees in electrical engineering from Utah State University.
In addition to his passionate interest in innovation and intellectual property for business growth, Mr Briscoe has presented on various IP and technology topics in the United States, Denmark, Sweden, the United Kingdom, Russia, Germany and Brazil and speaks Danish, Spanish and Portuguese.
