Associate General Counsel at Verizon Communications Inc
Sanjeev Mehta serves as director and associate general counsel in the IP litigation group at Verizon Communications Inc. Mr Mehta manages a variety of matters, including patent litigation, patent policy, IP rights strategy and incoming pre-litigation threats. Prior to this role, Mr Mehta was in the IP transactions group at Verizon, where he led the company’s efforts in strategic patent licensing (inbound, outbound and cross-licensing), SEP licensing, patent pool participation, patent moentisation including sales, strategic patent acquisitions, M&A deals (relating to patent and open source issues), and technology transactions including software licensing (inbound and outbound).
Before joining Verizon, Mr Mehta was an associate at O’Melveny & Myers and Ropes & Gray for a combined 10 years, where his practice focused on patent litigation and counselling, trademark prosecution and counselling, and general IP transactional matters.
Mr Mehta is a frequent speaker on a variety of patent issues including patent licensing, litigation, strategy and monetisation at conferences. He has most recently presented at the IP Counsel Cafe (where he serves on the advisory board), the Los Angeles Intellectual Property Law Association, the Unified Patents and IAM’s Patent Licensing conferences.
Mr Mehta received his law degree from Fordham Law School and his undergraduate degree from Columbia University.
