Mr Yagi has a reputation as an expert in commercially focused, practical and effective trade-secret management and Open Source licence compliance, particularly from an SME perspective. He is regularly invited to speak on these subjects at international IP industry conferences.

Previously, Mr Yagi was a long-serving member of the Vodafone Group IP rights team, where he was primarily focused on patents and invention harvesting but had the additional responsibility for advising the entire business on all aspects of Open Source licence compliance and risk mitigation, including for mergers and acquisitions.

He has more than 30 years’ experience at the cutting edge of technology since starting at the world-renowned BT Research Labs as an apprentice technician aged 16. Fundamentally an engineer at heart, Mr Yagi holds a first-class honours degree from the University of Sussex. He is an inventor and co-inventor on several patent families.
