Head of Trademarks and Domains at Belron Group Services AG
Marion Wössner is head of trademarks and domains at Belron, world leader in vehicle-glass repair and replacement, with famous brands – including Carglass®, Safelite® and Autoglass® – and operations in more than 30 countries. Dr Wössner has global responsibility for a portfolio of more than 1,000 heterogeneous trademarks and 1,700 domain registrations. She spearheaded the centralisation of the portfolio and generated significant cost and efficiency savings. Together with her team and a global network of preferred outside counsel, she built a successful brand protection practice from scratch and manages approximately 100 cases of brand protection a year for legally highly sensitive brands, including complex litigations and oppositions in Germany, France, Spain, Denmark, Cyprus, Canada, Morocco and other overseas countries. Dr Wössner, along with core marketing managers, played a key leadership role in the implementation and approval of the Belron Trademark Compliance Guidelines and she constantly advances IP awareness within Belron through online and personal training. She advised on new brands during recent service extensions, ensured corresponding protection and overlooked intra-group transfer of the complete trademark and domain portfolio twice with significant efficiency and cost savings. Dr Wössner, who has been an active INTA member since 2008, has been serving as a supervisory board member of several Belron companies for the past decade.
Dr Wössner registered as an attorney at law in Munich in 2004. Prior to working in-house, she advised clients from the automotive, pharmaceutical, fashion and food industries on IP law. Her passion for intellectual property was raised when she joined the German Patent and Trademark Office as trademark examiner in 2001.
She holds a PhD in comparative criminal law from the University of Augsburg (supported by a Bavarian American Academy scholarship) and was a visiting researcher at Southern Methodist University, Dallas TX. She studied law at Ludwig-Maximilians University and the University of California LA, with legal internships in Buenos Aires, Argentina and Bloemfontein, South Africa. Dr Wössner speaks German, English, French and Spanish.
