Vice President of Legal and IP Rights at PayPal
Jyri Lassi has been vice president of legal and IP rights at PayPal since December 2016. In this role, he is responsible for providing oversight and direction regarding all legal aspects concerning PayPal’s technology law and IP interests.
Mr Lassi is responsible for leading PayPal’s IP team and developing the overall strategy and implementation of IP-related matters. Specifically, he is in charge of PayPal’s global internal and external IP strategy, global patent prosecution and strategic patent filing activities, patent portfolio management, patent licensing and other patent transactions, as well as patent litigation, global trademark protection, trademark and domain name portfolio management and brand enforcement. Mr Lassi is also responsible for boosting innovation at PayPal through a company-wide initiative to incentivise innovation, as well as for managing PayPal’s global inventor reward programme and providing IP support for all business, engineering and legal groups globally.
Mr Lassi has extensive experience in global IP, technology and M&A transactions and is a recognised dealmaker in those areas.
Before joining PayPal, Mr Lassi spent 15 years in various leadership and individual contributor roles within the Nokia Group, most recently as vice president of legal and compliance at Nokia.
Mr Lassi holds an LLM from Helsinki University and is licensed to practise law in Finland and California.
