Jeff Lindsay's Profile

In a world of frequent disruptive innovation, Jeff Lindsay believes that ‘disruptive IP’ is an overlooked tool for managing the threats and opportunities of disruption. Dr Lindsay continues to pursue the use of disruptive IP as he initially reported in the Journal of Product Innovation Management in 2010 and in Conquering Innovation Fatigue (John Wiley & Sons, 2009). With innovation experience in both academia and corporate R&D, plus service as a corporate patent strategist for a Fortune 500 company, head of IP for a large Asian company and a consultant guiding innovators and corporations in strategy and IP, Dr Lindsay bridges the gap between inventors and corporate needs to develop creative IP with disruptive potential.

Dr Lindsay is currently a consultant, assisting companies with innovation and IP strategy with clients in Asia and the United States. Dr Lindsay is the former head of IP for Asia Pulp and Paper (China) and the former senior research fellow and corporate patent strategist of Kimberly-Clark Corporation, where he worked with over 20 groups around the company to guide and integrate IP strategy. He was also the head of R&D and IP at Lume Deodorant and a director at Innovationedge, a consultancy led by Kimberly-Clark’s former chief innovation officer, Cheryl Perkins. Dr Lindsay is a former assistant and then associate professor at the Institute of Paper Science and Technology (now RBI) at Georgia Tech. He is a US patent agent and inventor with over 130 US patents.

Dr Lindsay has a PhD in chemical engineering from Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah, and is a fellow of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers.

Dr Lindsay reads, writes and speaks Mandarin Chinese and German, and is currently studying Swahili. Jeff and his wife, Kendra, live in Appleton, Wisconsin, and have 13 grandchildren.
