Guy Ornthanalai is an IP and innovation strategist and founder and CEO of Intellectual Design Group (IDG). He founded IDG in 2013 as an IP and innovation consulting firm based in Thailand, but has now expanded his offices and IP consultancy practices into Singapore, Japan and Southeast Asia. Coming from multidisciplinary backgrounds in science and engineering, management and IP law, Mr Ornthanalai and his team of 50-plus professionals have been helping more than 4,000 clients across different industries to design, develop, protect and commercialise various IP and intangible assets in Thailand and many other countries. Mr Ornthanalai specialises in patent prosecution, IP research and technology landscape analysis, IP portfolio management, and IP-based technology transfer, licensing, marketing and business development.
Mr Ornthanalai is also a trusted adviser on IP management and technology transfer issues for many Thai government organisations such as the Thai National Vaccine Institute, the Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand, the Geo-Informatics and Space Technology Development Agency, the Tourism Authority of Thailand, the Federation of Thai Industries and many technology transfer offices in universities.
Mr Ornthanalai has a bachelor’s degree in neuroscience from the University of Victoria (BC, Canada), dual master degrees in industrial engineering (MEng) and an MBA from the Tokyo Institute of Technology (Japan) and Georgia Institute of Technology (US). He has additional training and certifications in IP management and technology transfer from the University of California, Davis (US), advanced IP management from the Intellectual Property Offices of Singapore (Singapore), and PCT patent agent training from the Department of Intellectual Property (Thailand).
