PhD engineer Edelbert Häfele sees patents in their business context and is a leading expert on valuing IP assets and putting them to commercial use. He’s an innovative problem-solver and has built sophisticated tools to help his clients manage risk.
Edelbert Häfele is CEO of PATEV Associates GmbH & Co KG, a European market leader for business-based IP management services. He is also a publicly appointed and sworn expert for the valuation, use and transfer of IP rights. He has a PhD in engineering from the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology.
Dr Häfele’s professional career began 1985, when he founded a start-up focused on IP-protected process technology. He founded PATEV, a solutions provider for IP-based businesses focused on the value of intellectual property, in 2001, after an industrial career as inventor and chief technology officer.
PATEV has greatly advanced the evaluation and use of patents in companies as part of M&A and restructuring activities. Since 2010, PATEV’s special service, based on a cutting-edge in-house IP database, has effectively monitored and prevented IP risks for medium-sized and large businesses.
In 2015 PATEV developed a solutions partner for innovation intelligence, with the aim of supporting the development and protection of new businesses from a very early stage. This service is provided by IP Tomography, supported by smart innovation intelligence. It has been rolled out for mid-cap, large corporates and their investors, in particular covering digitalisation and artificial intelligence.
PATEV is now offering a new service, in collaboration with financial partners, which supports companies with equity and debt advisory, and is based on the financial value of brands and patents.
PATEV is DIN ISO certified and uses its own value-based IP strategy and proven methodology (“Seven steps to business success”).
