The Patent 1000 focuses exclusively on patent practice and has firmly established itself as the definitive 'go-to' resource for those seeking world-class legal patent expertise.
Silver - Firms: litigation
Gold - Firms: prosecution
Very few IP establishments in China can compete with the breadth and depth of the patent practice at CCPIT Patent & Trademark Law Office. Comfortably sitting in the gold tier alongside other reputable prosecution shops, the group has both the technical and legal chops to get the job done and to the highest standard. With offices in Beijing, New York, Silicon Valley, Tokyo, Munich, Madrid, Hong Kong, Guangzhou, Shenzhen and Shanghai, it has delighted many domestic and international clients alike. Vice president Chuanhong Long shrewdly guides patent applications through the CNIPA gauntlet. A much sought-after chemical expert in his own right, he has also been entrusted with invalidation, enforcement and licensing matters. Despite its unparalleled prowess on the prosecution front, CCPIT’s extensive repertoire of knowledge also makes it a formidable force in the litigation space – it has won mandates from illustrious overseas brands including Apple and Canon. Making their mark are Weijie Tang and Jianzhong Kang, both of whom were previously trained in US law firms. Tang focuses on matters arising from pharmaceutical companies, whereas Kang’s practice effortlessly traverses the contentious/non-contentious divide.

History
Our history goes back to January 1957, when a trademark agency was established within the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT) – a non-governmental trade promotion organisation – to represent foreign companies before Chinese authorities. The agency was the sole trademark agency in China until the mid-1980s. A patent agency was organised by CCPIT in the early 1980s when China began to establish its patent system. The patent agency was authorised as the first Chinese IP law firm to have cross-border representation. In 1993, the two agencies merged to form the CCPIT Patent and Trademark Law Office.
Honours
Our reputation for professionalism is widely recognised among peer professionals and clients, domestically and internationally. Since 1999, we have been ranked among the top Chinese IP law firms in the annual surveys conducted by Managing Intellectual Property and
have been nominated time and again as a leading Chinese IP firm by publications such as Asia Legal Business, IAM and Chambers & Partners.
