Thomas Kretschmer has extensive experience in the field of IP protection in various areas of the information, communication and technology (ICT) industry. His career as a patent attorney draws on his many years of experience in the IP departments of large software and computer companies. His particular technical specialties include modern technologies in the ICT environment, such as cryptography, the Internet of Things, blockchain and artificial intelligence, but also building and energy technology, as well as system control.
For many years Mr Kretschmer managed the global patent portfolios of international companies. He holds a master's in IP law and management, an LLM from the Centre for International Intellectual Property Studies in Strasbourg and a postgraduate diploma in copyright law from King's College in London.
As vice chair of the Standing Committee for Information Technology and Internet of the International Association for the Protection of Intellectual Property, Mr Kretschmer focuses on new ICT technologies, including computer hardware and software, networking, cryptography, databases and big data, digital electronics and devices, blockchain and artificial intelligence.
