Sofia Larsson joined Zacco in 2017 and has worked in intellectual property since 2006. She is a European patent attorney, an authorised patent attorney (Sweden) and a team manager within Zacco. Ms Larsson advises and assists local and international clients on strategic planning within the IP field and works in close collaboration with clients to manage and optimise their IP rights. This includes all aspects of patent prosecution, such as novelty searches, freedom-to-operate searches, and drafting and prosecuting patent applications, as well as dealing with appeals and opposition in Sweden, Europe and internationally. She also advises clients on invention evaluation and patent strategies and assists in legal processes involving patents. Ms Larsson works mainly in the fields of medical devices and systems, which includes mechanics, electronics, biomaterials and chemistry, but also has experience working in the forestry industry, manufacturing industry and biotechnology.
Ms Larsson graduated with a master’s in molecular biology in 1994 and a PhD in cell biology in 2001, both from Stockholm University. She then worked as a post-doctoral researcher at the Karolinska Institute for five years, within the field of molecular biology and lipid metabolism. In 2006 Ms Larsson started working as a patent engineer at Radi Medical Systems AB in Uppsala, advancing to the position of patent manager after the company’s sale to St Jude Medical. Before joining Zacco, she worked for five years at another IP firm as a patent attorney and a team manager.
