Peter Widmer has been a partner at FMP Fuhrer Marbach & Partners in Bern, Switzerland, since 1988. His practice focuses on all relevant issues of IP, including litigation in all Swiss courts up to the Swiss Supreme Court. One of the two main areas of specialisation relates to M&A aspects of IP in transactions. The second main area is trademark and patent litigation. Further, Mr Widmer’s practice involves all aspects of contracts, again with a clear focus on IP matters, including licences, coexistence and delimitation agreements, agreements regarding creation and assignment of IP rights etc. Mr Widmer is the author of several publications on IP (co-author in Lange, International Trade Mark and Signs Protection, CH Beck, Munich, 2010, Switzerland) and contributed to a commentary on the proceedings before the Swiss Federal Patent Court. He is a teacher at the Swiss Federal Institute of Intellectual Property in a course for Swiss patent attorneys, acts as a speaker or moderator at numerous national and international symposia on IP related matters, and is past chair of the AIPPI Standing Committee on Trademarks. Mr Widmer is ranked in the top tier of Swiss IP practitioners in many relevant IP directories.
