Head, Patent Department at PONS IP
Patricia Ramos is head of the patent department at PONS IP. Ms Ramos is an expert in chemistry and biotechnology, with over 16 years’ experience handling patent issues in these fields. She leads a team of over 30 patent professionals and acts on behalf of large public institutions, including the Spanish National Research Council, which is the main Spanish applicant in the ranking of international (Patent Cooperation Treaty), European and national patents in Spain, the largest public research institution in Spain and the third largest in Europe.
Ms Ramos is the former head of PONS IP’s chemistry, biotech and pharmaceutical department, where she developed an extensive track record in patent prosecution in Spain and internationally. Before joining PONS IP, she acquired substantial knowledge and experience in the industry by handling patent prosecution issues at leading biotech company PharmaMar, which focuses on the development of new cancer treatments.
Ms Ramos is a regular contributor to prestigious publications, including Bentham Science, Tetrahedron and Helvetica Chimica Acta. She has lectured on IP issues at top academic institutions, including ISDE Law & Business School and the Higher Institute of Law and Economics. Ms Ramos has a degree in chemistry from the Autonomous University of Madrid and a master’s in organic chemistry and undertook postgraduate studies at the Paul Sabatier University.
Ms Ramos is fluent in Spanish, English and French.
