Nancy Song is a junior partner at Linda Liu & Partners. She has gained solid understanding of the business implications of strategic IP prosecution in view of potential litigation. Ms Song is trusted in handling transferred-in cases, rectifying defects in prior prosecution and overturning unfavourable results for clients. Clients praise Ms Song for her seamless communication, responsiveness and timely and helpful advice. The IAM Patent 1000 has described her as “the perfect cooperation partner in China for patent prosecution”. Ms Song has handled more than 1,000 office actions and prepared hundreds of new applications.
Ms Song is experienced in the electronics, communications and computers fields, especially regarding medical equipment and software. She speaks Chinese, English, Japanese and basic German.
Ms Song has an LLM from the Santa Clara University School of Law, where she was awarded the Silicon Valley Law Fellow and CALI Excellence for the Future Award. She also has a BEng in electronic and information engineering from Tsinghua University.
Ms Song joined Linda Liu & Partners in 2011 as a Chinese patent attorney and is now a junior partner and group leader of the EU and US team. Prior to joining Linda Liu & Partners, Ms Song was senior patent counsel and a patent engineer at MediaTek Inc.
Ms Song specialises in corporate IP strategy and planning, patent mining, patent application drafting, office action response, patent re-examination, patent validity analysis, infringement opinions, patent search and analysis, patent invalidation and IP-related counselling.
Ms Song has handled a series of freedom-to-operate search cases and related validity analysis, infringement opinions, patent portfolio counselling and drafting for an international medical equipment company. She also conducted a prior art search in Japanese and made a claim chart in English for a litigation case where a well-known Chinese power tools company was sued in Sweden. Ms Song also handled a series of infringement opinion cases for a well-known international semiconductor manufacturing equipment company.
