Manisha Singh is a co-founder and partner at LexOrbis. Known and respected for her expert knowledge of prosecution and enforcement of all forms of IP rights, she oversees and supervises all practice groups at the firm. She has been recognised as an IP Star in litigation as well as strategy and counselling in 2018 by Managing Intellectual Property, as one of India’s top-100 lawyers in The A-List 2018 by India Business Law Journal and as Leading IP Lawyer by AsiaLaw in 2018. Ms Singh was awarded the 2019 IP Star Woman of the Year by Legal Era Group and was given the 2019 Global Intellectual Property Convention Award for Excellence for invaluable services in the IP field.
Starting her career when India’s IP laws and practices were undergoing substantial changes pursuant to India’s obligations to comply with the Agreement on Trade-Related Aspects of Intellectual Property Rights, Ms Singh played a crucial role in advising and informing Indian policymakers and lawmakers on the global standards associated with IP administrative and enforcement systems. Ms Singh is a prolific writer and speaker and has authored over 500 articles and papers on contemporary IP and legal issues in India. She works closely with IP administrative authorities and has been instrumental in bringing transparency, speed and efficiency to India’s IP administration.
Ms Singh is also known for her sharp litigation skills for both IP and non-IP litigations. She represents the Reserve Bank of India (India’s central banking institution) before the High Court of Delhi and the Supreme Court of India in cases related to banking and non-banking financial companies. She also specialises in IP litigation with a focus on patent litigations covering all technical fields – particularly pharmaceuticals, telecommunications and mechanics. In addition, she has been involved in various trademarks, copyright and design infringement and passing off cases. She also advises on licensing and employee inventions.
