Luc Santarelli is the managing partner at Santarelli. He is a French and European patent, trademark and design attorney.

Mr Santarelli has a dual educational background: an engineering degree from the Ecole Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne in 1978 in a wide range of engineering technologies, with specialisation in telecommunications, and a master’s in law from the University of Paris II in 1988. He also has an advanced degree in patent litigation in Europe (2004) from Strasbourg University in connection with the European Patent Institute Centre for International Intellectual Property (EPI CEIPI).

After a stint as a telecommunications engineer, Mr Santarelli joined Cabinet Bonnet-Thirion in 1980 and Rinuy Santarelli in 1985, where he specialised in patent infringement litigation.

His specialities include patent oppositions before the European Patent Office and patent litigation covering a wide range of technologies, including mechanics, physics and information technology. He has handled various high-profile cases for global clients.

He assists clients in crafting IP strategies and handles patent infringement, know-how misappropriation and patent ownership rights litigation and licensing operations. His clientele includes high-tech start-ups and large corporations across a wide range of fields, including aeronautics, telecommunications, electronics, software, semiconductors, nanotechnology and the mechanical industry.

Mr Santarelli lectures on patent litigation and the European patent system. He lectures on the EPI CEIPI European patent litigation course.

He speaks English, French and Spanish.
