Lech Bury is co-founder of Bury & Bury. He graduated from the faculty of electronics at Warsaw University of Technology. Having pursued his passion for electronics since high school, he has been devoted to R&D for over 15 years.
The experience he gathered in that time triggered a decision to begin studies as a patent attorney, which he completed in 1998. Since then, he has been working as a patent attorney and gradually decreasing his involvement in electronics, though even now he is a board member of the Foundation for the Development of Radiocommunication and Multimedia Technologies, based at Warsaw University of Technology.
Mr Bury became a European patent attorney in 2004. His areas of expertise include patent drafting and prosecution in all fields related to electronics, mechanics and computer-implemented inventions. He has represented applicants in numerous disputes concerning the patentability of computer-implemented inventions that have had a significant impact on the case law of computer-implemented inventions patents in Poland.
His professional activity also extends to patent enforcement, including legal opinions regarding infringements, litigation before the courts and invalidation proceedings. The experience he has gained in disputes helps him when drafting specifications and providing high-quality translations of European patents validated in Poland.
Mr Bury is also active in patent attorney institutions – he has been appointed as a member of the peer tribunal of the Polish Chamber of Patent Attorneys.
He worked at a large IP firm in Poland for 17 years, advancing to general manager. In 2015, he and his son established the family IP firm Bury & Bury. Bury & Bury is managed by Marek Bury, representing the third generation of patent attorneys in the family.
