Kay Rupprecht is an expert in the field of electrical and medical engineering, and a qualified German and European patent and trademark attorney. His first degree was in electrical engineering at the Helmut Schmidt University in Hamburg, Germany; he followed this with an LLM on law at the University of Hagen, Germany.
Mr Rupprecht’s areas of expertise include electro-mechanics and mechanics, power plants, power engineering, conveyor belt technology, fire detection systems, municipal vehicle technology, naval command and fire control systems, naval warship technology, naval weapons, medical technology, information and communication technology, including SEPs and computer-implemented inventions, the Internet of Things and artificial intelligence.
Mr Rupprecht has experience in all matters of industrial property law; patent, trademark and design prosecution; and licensing, litigation and nullity actions. He is an honorary judge of the Senate for Patent Attorney matters at the Higher Regional Court Munich. During his career, Mr Rupprecht has served as an expert witness and technical adviser on several of the patent issues raised in a US litigation between Monarch/Fukuhara and Groz-Beckert.
He is a member of the German Patent Attorneys Bar Association, the Association of Intellectual Property Experts, the Bavarian Association of Patent Attorneys, the Digital Marketing Institute, the European Communities Trademark Association, the German Naval Officers' Association, the Union of European Practitioners in Intellectual Property, the German Association for the Protection of Intellectual Property, MARQUES, the International Association for the Protection of Intellectual Property and the International Federation of International Property Attorneys and of the European Patent Litigators Association.
