Justin Nelson represents both plaintiffs and defendants in high-stakes litigation across the United States. A large part of Mr Nelson’s practice involves going to trial, preparing for trial and arguing key motions leading up to trial in high-stakes IP cases.
Some of Mr Nelson’s most recent patent successes include:
- securing a jury verdict of $50.3 million for client Green Mountain Glass in a patent infringement lawsuit against Ardagh Glass, Inc; the jury found that Ardagh, formerly known as Saint-Gobain Containers, wilfully infringed Green Mountain’s Patent No 5,718,737 for technology, which allows glass manufacturers to use recycled glass of mixed colours;
- serving as lead counsel to successfully defend Amazon and Amazon Web Services in a preliminary injunction motion in the US District Court for the Southern District of New York with regard to the Amazon Chime product, which was sued by CafeX over its CafeX Chime product;
- serving as co-lead counsel for Rockstar in patent litigation against Google; and
- securing a $23 million verdict for client Fractus against Samsung in a patent infringement battle involving antennas for mobile phones.
In addition to trial work, Mr Nelson has represented various parties as amici in the US Supreme Court in cases regarding matters ranging from intellectual property and antitrust to constitutional law. Mr Nelson has also practised first amendment law on behalf of various media companies.
