Justin Blok has extensive experience advising clients in hundreds of business consulting and litigation matters and is recognised as an expert in quantifying economic damages, having testified in federal, district and state court matters, as well as private arbitrations involving economic, accounting, valuation and strategic issues. Mr Blok is a managing director and partner in charge of Whitley Penn LLP’s forensic, litigation and valuation services practice in Houston, Texas. He is a certified fraud examiner and a certified licensing professional (by the Licensing Executives Society). He has testified on behalf of both plaintiffs and defendants in the analysis and determination of economic damages, including lost profits, reasonable royalties, price erosion, unjust enrichment, diminution of value, solvency, valuation and lost earnings and household services. Mr Blok’s expertise includes patent, trademark, trade dress and copyright infringement, theft of trade secrets, breach of contract, business valuation, bankruptcy, fraud, business interruption, personal injury, wrongful death and wrongful termination. In addition to general business disputes, Mr Blok has also consulted with clients regarding IP strategy involving the valuation, monetisation and licensing of intellectual property. He is often asked to assist clients in quantifying economic losses for insurance claims relating to catastrophic events, and in the investigation of high-stakes matters involving fraud, corruption and accounting irregularities.
Mr Blok serves as a guest lecturer at Baylor University School of Law, the University of Houston Law School and South Texas School of Law, covering damages topics relating to IP disputes, general commercial litigation, personal injury, wrongful death and wrongful termination.
Mr Blok has authored articles in publications including The Journal of Commercial Biotechnology, the University of Houston Law Foundation and Thomas Reutters, providing insight on a variety of topics.
Mr Blok holds an MBA from the University of Houston Clear Lake and two BBAs from Baylor University – one in finance and the other in risk management and insurance.
