Jonas Westerberg is the name partner of Westerberg & Partners. With over 25 years’ experience in intellectual property, focusing mainly on patents and trade secrets, he is one of the most frequently retained IP litigators in Sweden, with vast experience in dispute resolution in courts, arbitration and administrative proceedings concerning licensing, infringement and validity of IP and related rights.
Best known for his work in patent litigation, Mr Westerberg has led the teams in many high-profile and high-impact cases. He has worked in essentially every industry sector that has been subject to patent disputes in Sweden, including acting for clients in the agricultural, biotechnology, construction, consumer goods, explosives, financial technology, software, pharmaceutical, industrial tools, and power transmission industry sectors. He has also advised clients before the European Patent Office in oppositions, including providing an experienced litigator’s point of view to ensure that the resulting patents could be effectively enforceable, and acted as arbitrator in arbitral proceedings.
Mr Westerberg also frequently advises clients on non-contentious aspects of patents, trade secrets and copyright, including drafting and negotiating licensing and R&D contracts, and planning and managing IP due diligence in transactions.
Mr Westerberg is proud to have been elected by his peers to the board of the European Patent Lawyers Association, where he acted as vice chair until 2017, and where he is currently a member of the Advisory Board.
