Jeffrey H Kinrich is a financial analyst, certified public accountant (CPA) and valuation professional. He specialises in damage quantification and valuation in IP and commercial damages cases. His extensive experience spans numerous industries, including semiconductors, telecommunications, medical devices and consumer products. Mr Kinrich has calculated damages in patent, trademark, copyright, trade secret and right-of-privacy matters under both lost profits and reasonable royalty approaches. He has also analysed profits and apportionment for actual damages and unjust enrichment claims in a variety of IP matters and addressed the issue of irreparable harm in conjunction with injunction motions.
During his 40-year career, Mr Kinrich has served several hundred times as an expert witness in federal and state courts and before arbitration panels.
Mr Kinrich has authored or edited articles and book chapters on topics such as the analysis and measurement of damages in patent infringement cases. He is the author of “Trademark Misuse”, a chapter in Litigation Support Report Writing: Accounting, Finance, and Economic Issues, and he served as co-editor of the recently published book Lost Profits Damages: Principles, Methods, and Applications. Mr Kinrich is on the planning committee for the University of Southern California’s annual Intellectual Property Institute and was a speaker at its annual damages conference.
Mr Kinrich is a CPA in California and Illinois and holds the American Institute of CPAs’ Accredited in Business Valuation credential. He holds an MBA in finance and quantitative methods (University of Maryland), an MS in statistics (Stanford University) and a BS in mathematics (Pomona College).
