Partner at Plougmann Vingtoft
Jan Mondrup Pedersen is a partner and European patent attorney at Plougmann Vingtoft. He has an MSc in chemistry and physics and a PhD in organic synthesis. Mr Pedersen has patent technical expertise within the areas of chemistry and biotechnology, including pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, diagnostics, organic synthesis and modified surfaces. Mr Pedersen has worked with patents within all of these areas, in collaboration with international pharmaceutical companies, biotech companies, universities and hospitals.
Mr Pedersen is well versed in patentability assessments, freedom-to-operate analyses, opposition and litigation, as well as in drafting and prosecuting patent applications. He is also specialised in the filing and prosecution of supplementary protection certificate applications, particularly in Europe and Denmark.
Mr Pedersen has (co)authored 13 research papers, which have been published in renowned international chemistry journals. Further, he has performed studies of the synthesis and modifications of heterocyclic anti-cancer compounds and antibacterial peptides. Presently, Mr Pedersen is a guest lecturer at the Danish Technical University, where he teaches a patent course.
He successfully completed the Centre for International Intellectual Property Studies’ course on patent litigation in Europe at the University of Strasbourg. As such, he will receive the European Patent Litigation Certificate under the UPC when it enters into force.
