Chair of Litigation Practice at Munck Wilson Mandala LLP
Jamil N Alibhai is a member of Munck Wilson Mandala’s (MWM) executive committee and chairs the litigation section. Mr Alibhai’s team has been named Litigation Department of the Year finalist in the mid-size law firm category for the entire state of Texas in 2018. In 2019, The Texas Lawyer honour for law firms that have produced the highest verdicts from 2014-2018 noted two MWM IP cases: Texas Advanced Optoelectronic Solutions, Inc v Intersil Corp ($88.86 million) and iLife Technologies Inc v Nintendo of America Inc ($10.1 million) as Hall of Fame Verdicts in 2019.
As a leader, Mr Alibhai is known for developing keen litigators by giving his junior attorneys substantive portions of the work and setting the expectation that they will be vital members of his team. Junior associates have taken depositions and examined witnesses at trial in addition to other litigation responsibilities and roles that they would unlikely be given in a larger firm.
A strong mentor and advocate for his law firm, Mr Alibhai has built strong relationships in the business and philanthropic community through his involvement in the Leadership Dallas Alumni Association and as a board member of Make-A-Wish North Texas.
In 2015, Mr Alibhai was honoured as one of The National Law Journal’s winning litigators for his work on a patent infringement and trade secret misappropriation case tried by jury. He was lead counsel on the case that resulted in an $88 million verdict which was ranked the 16th Largest Verdict of 2015 by The National Law Journal and VerdictSearch. MWM was also among the firms recognised by The National Law Journal as America’s Elite Trial Lawyers that same year.
Mr Alibhai continues to take on challenging cases that result in remarkable wins for his clients. He leads a litigation team that represents clients in IP disputes, complex commercial litigation cases and appeals in state and federal courts nationwide.
