Iko Medina has been a partner at Montaury Pimenta, Machado & Vieira de Mello since 1991.
Mr Medina began work in the IP field in 1968 at Dannemann, Siemsen, Bigler & Ipanema Moreira. He then joined Daniel & Cia before becoming a partner at Montaury Pimenta, Machado & Vieira de Mello.
Mr Medina is head of the patent group and specialises in the development and worldwide execution of patent inventions in many fields, including utility models, industrial designs and freedom-to-operate patent clearance, as well as prosecution of nearly 10,000 patents and litigation involving a wide range of fields, including automotive, telecommunications, electronics and software, as well as chemical and mechanical engineering.
Before working in intellectual property at Dannemann, Siemsen, Bigler & Ipanema Moreira, Mr Medina was employed for several years in the automobile and shipping industry, namely with Ishikawajima Harima Heavy Industries and Fabrica Nacional de Motores.
Mr Medina graduated with degrees in mechanical engineering and economics engineering from the Federal University of Brazil. He obtained a master’s in internal combustion engines at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Lausanne.
