Ignacio Marqués holds a degree in law from the Pompeu Fabra University in Barcelona. He received his LLM in intellectual property from Alicante University before going on to study US patent law on the JD programme for industrial and intellectual property at the Chicago-Kent College of Law and practising law in Chicago.
Mr Marqués has broad jurisdictional experience in intellectual property, unfair competition, advertising, media and information technology, both as a litigant and as a transactional adviser. He works on matters related to patents, trademarks, designs, copyright, unfair competition and advertising.
Mr Marqués joined Grau & Angulo in 2017, boosting various areas of activity at the firm, including transactional advice. He became a partner in 2018. Before joining Grau & Angulo he worked with Baker McKenzie at its offices in Barcelona, Chicago and London as director of the IP department. He speaks English, Spanish, German and Catalan which, along with his extensive experience of 20 years in IP law, has led to a highly consolidated and impressive solid portfolio including clients from the entertainment, healthcare, energy and manufacturing sectors.
He regularly publishes articles on IP and competition law and gives classes in various universities, law schools and business schools, both in Spain and abroad.
