Specialised in intellectual property and commercial contracts, Ia Modin represents clients in business and commercialisation matters where intellectual assets are essential. Her work focuses primarily on collaborations for the development and commercialisation of innovations and other intellectual assets, and includes the drafting and negotiation of joint ventures, tech transfer, licences and contracts pertaining to inventions, patents, copyright, and trade secrets and know-how.
In particular Ms Modin has extensive experience in drafting and negotiating complex transnational multi-party collaborations. With such collaborations often involving government funding, Ms Modin also advises clients on associated requirements including the European State Aid Rules in relation to R&D and EU Commission funding. She is a practised negotiator of collaborations between industry and academia with a solid understanding of the contractual needs to enable the commercialisation of such collaboration’s results. Ms Modin represents clients from most industry sectors, notably from the steel, pulp and paper and clean tech industries, as well as the art, film and fashion industries.
Ms Modin is frequently retained as a moderator and speaker, as well as lecturer on intellectual property, contractual law and negotiation.
