Hui Zhang joined ZY Partners in 2006. She previously worked for the IP group of a major international law firm for three years, and was an IP judge of the highest Chinese judiciary before 2003. She graduated from Chongqing University with a BSc in computer software in 1991, and later received her LLM from Renmin University.
Ms Zhang has devoted herself to the IP legal profession since 1998. Her experience as an IP judge and technical background give her unparalleled experience and unique abilities in handling complex IP litigation and technology-related matters in China. Since she began in private practice in 2003, she has represented multinational and domestic clients in high-stakes IP litigation in China involving the protection of trademarks, patents, trade secrets and copyright.
Ms Zhang’s recent practices include defending a US client in an anti-monopoly private litigation involving the fair, reasonable and non-discriminatory licence of standard-essential patents, enforcing copyright and rights under the Anti-unfair Competition Law against car design counterfeit.
Ms Zhang’s experience in the pharmaceutical industry covers various types of patent, including compound, polymorph, preparation processes, combinations, drug administration methods and second indications. She is also skilled in dealing with patent enforcement and validity review cases involving electronic, telecommunication and chemical patents, as well as designs in the automotive and footwear industries.
