George Strong Jr has more than 30 years’ consulting experience in complex and frequently high-profile commercial disputes across numerous industries. He has provided expert testimony in more than 100 cases – in the United States and internationally – on IP issues relating to patent, copyright, trade secret and breach of contract disputes.
Mr Strong’s patent work includes cases such as Synthes USA LLC v Spinal Kinetics, in which he assessed lost profits and reasonable royalty damages over a medical device patent; and Loma Linda Medical Centrer Optivus v IBA, in which he determined reasonable royalties and testified on patent infringement and unfair competition.
In copyright infringement matters, Mr Strong’s wide-ranging testimony includes Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) v LimeWire Group, a closely watched recent dispute over lost statutory royalties; and Thomas v Brooks, an economic gains and damages matter stemming from the alleged copyright infringement of a song.
Mr Strong has applied his breach of contract expertise in numerous lost profits cases, including Entertainment Technology Corporation v The Walt Disney Company, Monsanto v Sandoz and Activision v Electronic Arts, in which he assessed reasonable royalties in a matter involving the producer and inventors of the video game Call of Duty. He has also testified at an International Chamber of Commerce arbitration in Zurich.
Mr Strong has co-authored chapters appearing in editions of the Litigation Services Handbook series. He is a certified public accountant and holds a BA from Yale University, an MBA from Harvard University and a JD from the University of San Diego School of Law.
