Friedrich Klinkert is one of the founding partners of Klinkert Rechtsanwälte PartGmbB (2010). He leads Klinkert’s patent practice and is the firm's main contact for unfair competition and the protection of technical trade secret matters.
Dr Klinkert started his professional career in 1980; only 20 years later, he was leading the IP practice at a renowned German firm. His professional background also includes working for a leading IP-focused international law firm and building its German IP department before establishing the boutique law firm Klinkert.
With more than 35 years’ experience in IP practice, Dr Klinkert specialises in litigation matters relating to patents and technical trade secrets in the automotive, LED, software, pharma and medical devices industries. One of his main areas of work is the strategic planning and implementation of complex and often multi-jurisdictional litigation. Many of his cases include an interface to white collar crime. At Klinkert, such cases are handled by mixed teams with extensive experience in both fields.
Dr Klinkert has also worked in cooperation with customs authorities (the International Trade Commission included) and a variety of German and international prosecution authorities, including the US Department of Justice and the US Federal Bureau of Investigation. Further, he has extensive experience procuring evidence from other jurisdictions (particularly the United States) for use in litigation in Germany and combating counterfeited products across international borders. He also advises on a variety of IP matters in many industries.
Dr Klinkert publishes work and gives lectures on IP topics.
Dr Klinkert has been recommended in “Handelsblatt” (2018), the IAM Patent 1000 (2018 and 2017) and the Legal 500 (2017).
