Emmanuel Gougé heads the IP department of Pinsent Masons France. He has been specialising in IP law for over 20 years (including patents and know-how, technology transfer, trademarks, domain names and other distinctive signs, designs, copyright and IP/IT-related agreements) as well as in IT law, dealing with both contentious and transactional matters.
By virtue of his dual admissions in France and in England and Wales, as well has his professional experiences in Germany, Mr Gougé has been involved in a range of domestic and multi-jurisdictional IP matters, including litigation of pharmaceutical, electronics and consumer products patents, validity litigation, licences and technology transfer agreements, as well as complex trademark infringement cases.
Mr Gougé’s experience is complemented by his expertise in drafting and negotiating domestic and international IP and technology transfer agreements, with a focus on the electronics, telecoms, automotive, medical devices and retail industry sectors.
He has specific experience in transactional works, including FRAND (licensing) and patent pool issues. He is also actively involved in the Pinsent Masons team dedicated to assisting clients on the upcoming UPC.
Mr Gougé was president of the Licensing Executives Society (LES) France from 2011 until 2016, when he became president of the European Committee of LES International.
Mr Gougé is fluent in French, English and German.
