Based in Vienna, Egon Engin-Deniz heads the Vienna and Southeast Europe IP and media department of CMS. Mr Engin-Deniz is a leading expert in patent litigation and licensing, focusing on life sciences and healthcare; technology, media and telecommunications; and mechanics.

Mr Engin-Deniz has extensive expertise in contentious and non-contentious patent law, the law of supplementary protection certificates for both the pharmaceutical and agro-science industries, as well as plant protection. He advises on related litigation concerning design rights and business secrets. His team specialises in both litigation and applications for action with Customs on a Europe-wide level. He is an expert in Austrian and multi-jurisdictional patent litigation. Recent successes include patent infringement proceedings in the household appliances sector and the payment services industry.

Mr Engin-Deniz lectures on patent and IP law at the Management Centre Innsbruck; trademark trial procedure at the Faculty of Law (Juridicum), University of Vienna; and trademark, patent, and copyright law at national and international conferences.

Mr Engin-Deniz was recently re-elected executive member of the board of the Vienna Bar Association and of the Austrian Federal Bar, where he mainly deals with the implementation of EU law in the field of intellectual property. He is a delegate of the International Trademark Association and the European Communities Trademark Association, a member of the Council of MARQUES and of the Anti-Counterfeiting Team of the European Brand Owners Association. He is now also a member of the MARQUES Anti-Counterfeiting and Parallel Trade Team and a member of the Programming Committee of the IT Law Day at the Vienna University of Economics and Business.
