Co-managing Partner at GLP Intellectual Property Office
Davide Luigi Petraz is co-managing partner of GLP Intellectual Property Office, a European patent, trademark and design attorney and an attorney at law.
Mr Petraz joined GLP in 1996 after qualifying as a lawyer and working in a prominent IP firm in Washington DC, where he also gained his master’s in IP law.
As well as being head of the firm’s legal department, Mr Petraz consults in relation to patents, trademarks and designs. He assists Italian and international clients in Europe and in the main jurisdictions in proceedings regarding all aspects of intellectual property, including IP infringement, unfair competition, trade secret disclosure and employee inventions.
Mr Petraz has extensive experience in drafting licence agreements and analysing and managing intellectual property. Further, he has gained considerable experience representing different companies before the European Patent Office, mainly in opposition proceedings.
Following several years as a visiting professor at the University of Udine, Mr Petraz now teaches intellectual property as a contract professor at the University of Trieste. He has authored several publications and regularly speaks at IP-related conferences and seminars.
Mr Petraz is a member of the Italian Patent Information Users Group, the European Communities Trademark Association, the International Trademark Association, Indicam, MARQUES, the Licensing Executives Society Italy and the Italian Association of Industrial Property Consultants.
Mr Petraz is a EURid panellist for the ‘.eu’ domain name and a member of the Italian administration counsel of the International Association for the Protection of Intellectual Property. He is also on the technical committee of the Italian-Brazilian Chamber of Commerce.
