David Yurkerwich is a senior managing director and leader of Ankura’s IP team. Mr Yurkerwich and Ankura’s IP team of seasoned experts assist clients in navigating the challenges and capitalising on opportunities associated with assessing, valuing and managing IP assets in today’s global innovation economy. They combine timely competitive information and state-of-the-art valuation methodologies using advanced data and analytical tools to deliver practical business solutions. He has been recognised by his peer group as a leading strategist in the IAM Strategy 300 since its launch in 2008.
Mr Yurkerwich works closely with inventors, owners and attorneys to assess patentability and markets for technologies to build and maintain competitive IP portfolios. He actively negotiates IP-based transactions and manages joint development, licensing and enforcement activities. Mr Yurkerwich also provides expert valuation testimony in patent infringement cases, international arbitration and other business disputes involving companies in Asia, Europe, South America and the United States. This has included over 90 matters involving a broad range of technologies and markets.
Mr Yurkerwich’s expertise includes competitive benchmarking for portfolio development, identifying and valuing tangible and intangible assets and portfolio analysis for evidence of market use and potential value. Mr Yurkerwich also has extensive experience in valuation opinions for mergers, acquisitions and divestitures, assisting with business planning and capital raising activities, developing joint ventures to commercialise new technologies, preparing technology valuation sale and licence models and performing outreach, facilitating discussions and negotiating transactions.
Mr Yurkerwich also has substantial expertise in disputes, which includes the analysis of invention scope, markets and alternatives, assistance with research and discovery to support damage models, the design and execution of apportionment models, the preparation of expert damages reports and the delivery of expert damage testimony.
Mr Yurkerwich received a BSc in business administration from the Villanova School of Business and became a certified public accountant. Prior to joining Ankura he helped form and build IP-focused consultancies at Peterson Worldwide, InteCap, Charles River Associates and Navigant Consulting.
