David Woods has over 20 years of experience at Pinsent Masons, specialising in IP law and in advising clients on contentious matters. Mr Woods has been involved in all aspects of intellectual property, including patents, know-how, trademarks, domain names, copyright and designs; he also advises clients on contentious IT law issues.
Mr Woods is qualified in Scots law, English law and Irish law, he has advised on many of the biggest IP disputes the firm has been involved in. These have included multi-jurisdictional disputes involving patents, as well as disputes that have helped to shape and develop IP law.
Mr Woods has a particular focus on the financial services, retail, energy and university sectors and is equally adept at advising on large-scale litigations, while successfully providing high-quality and cost-effective solutions to clients that need innovative solutions to manage a large number of disputes. This has involved Mr Woods working with clients across a range of sectors to develop and implement effective and cost-efficient brand protection strategies. Mr Woods also has a great deal of experience representing clients in alternative forms of dispute resolution.
As well as representing and advising clients on IP disputes, Mr Woods regularly speaks on a range of topics, including arbitration, dispute resolution issues and IP law.
