David G Rosenbaum has developed an extensive IP law practice representing a wide spectrum of clientele from start-ups to Fortune 500 corporations in IP rights procurement, product development, transactions and strategic litigation. Mr Rosenbaum counsels clients in complex IP matters and supervises due diligence and positioning reviews for licensing, M&A and strategic product development, all with the result of building and enhancing the value of his clients’ IP estates.
Mr Rosenbaum specialises in diagnostic and therapeutic medical devices, biotech, pharmaceuticals, organic and inorganic chemistry, material science, biochemistry and semiconductor materials and fabrication processes. He manages both large and small IP estates, devises IP portfolio growth and positioning strategies, conducts IP due diligence and counsels regarding patent landscapes, technology white-space identification, freedom-to-operate and non-infringement. He assists in a wide variety of contract negotiations and drafting, including technology transfer, cooperative R&D agreements, grant contracts, research agreements, clinical trial agreements, licence and cross-licence agreements and M&A agreements.
Mr Rosenbaum holds a bachelor’s degree in general science-chemistry from Grinnell College and a PhD in pharmacology and toxicology at the State University of New York at Buffalo. Since graduating law school in 1984 from the Illinois Institute of Technology with honours (Chicago-Kent College of Law), he has been admitted to practice in Arizona, Illinois, in several federal trial and appellate courts, as well as the USPTO. An active member of multiple bar and industry associations, he serves as a member of committees on biotech law and university patents, and has been a featured speaker at national legal and industry conferences. Mr Rosenbaum is also the author of the bestselling book entitled Layman’s Law Guide to Patents, Trademarks and Copyrights and was an adjunct professor at the John Marshall Law School for the LLM programmme in IP law and at Grinnell College, Grinnell, Iowa.
