Christian Heine is a German patent attorney, a registered European patent attorney and a European trademark and design attorney. He has been a partner in the IP law firm KNH Patentanwälte in Dusseldorf since 2008. He studied physics at Dortmund University with a minor in medicine and holds a PhD in physics from RWTH Aachen University.
Dr Heine specialises in prosecution proceedings, oppositions, revocation proceedings and infringement proceedings, particularly those relating to energy and electro technologies, medical technologies, software and physics. The firm – headquartered in Dusseldorf – is focused on technology fields such as mechanical and electrical engineering, computer sciences, physics and automotive.
Dr Heine is well experienced in the field of the German law on employee inventions, and has significant experience advising both national and international clients in this field. He has also successfully established inventor compensation systems for several clients in this field. He advises his clients in licensing agreements and the development of cooperation agreements. The clients of KNH Patentanwälte comprise not only small and medium-sized companies located in Germany and Europe, but also leading global companies and start-ups.
Technology searches, monitoring of the activities of competitors and freedom-to-operate analyses are part of Dr Heine’s work at KNH Patentanwälte. He and his partners regularly work on topics in interdisciplinary teams, both together with the patent attorneys and engineers of the firm as well as outside specialists.
Dr Heine teaches at the University of Applied Sciences in the field of IP law and regularly publishes articles in national and international magazines.
