Alexander Korenberg

Partner at Kilburn & Strode LLP

Alexander Korenberg counsels his clients on all aspects of the patent lifecycle. Setting up and executing transformative patent strategies is a central element of his practice. His experience handling patent drafting, patent prosecution and oppositions at first instance and on appeal, invention capture, coordinating worldwide patent portfolios and due diligence, means he sees every patent issue holistically.

Mr Korenberg’s technical fields of expertise include:

  • life sciences instrumentation and diagnostic devices;
  • medical physics and bio-engineering;
  • computer operating systems, object-oriented programming, computer security and encryption;
  • cloud services;
  • delivery of multimedia entertainment services, including video coding and conditional access systems;
  • virtual and augmented reality and holography; and
  • the control and design of electrical machines.

Some of Mr Korenberg’s core clients include one of the largest cloud storage providers supporting hundreds of millions of creators and innovators, a world-leading enterprise augmented reality company and a world leader in switched reluctance drive technology.

He also recently co-edited an extensive guide on IP strategy entitled Intellectual Property Strategy: A Practical Guide to IP Management through Globe Law and Business.

Mr Korenberg acts as a trusted adviser to international companies for their European and worldwide portfolios and always provides a strategic outlook when advising clients. For example, he is currently working with an award-winning point-of-care diagnostics organisation, which he has been working with since its inception. He has shaped their IP strategy, in effect acting as in-house counsel, helping to secure essential funding from organisations, including the European Investment Bank. This has enabled the organisation to pursue its original vision to design, manufacture and distribute ground-breaking products.

Mr Korenberg counsels clients across the world and travels to work with clients across Europe and beyond. He is fluent in German and French and has been described as being “the perfect partner for clients seeking pan-European protection” (IAM Patent 1000, 2017).
