Yasemin Aktaş is a qualified IP litigator and Turkish trademark and patent attorney who has been practising IP law since 2010.
Ms Aktaş completed her master’s at Galatasaray University in 2017 with a thesis titled “Data Exclusivity Protection and The Effects of Bolar Exemption on This Protection”, which was published in the refereed edition of the Journal of Intellectual Property Rights.
Ms Aktaş has been advising clients on a wide range of IP issues, including patents, trademarks, designs, domain names and trade names.
In the patent field, she supports mainly foreign and multinational companies from various industries – from pharmaceuticals to agriculture, from textile to electronics and from automotive to food and beverage – with the implementation of IP protection, patent litigation and enforcement strategies and portfolio management.
She represents clients in complex patent infringement and invalidation cases, as well as interlocutory and precautionary injunctions. She has extensive experience in patent enforcement proceedings before civil courts and handles lawsuits from inception to conclusion – that is, she provides best strategic advice on the matter, helps and guides clients while collecting evidence, prepares and files all necessary petitions, represents clients in court (including before appellate courts), and consults clients during all steps of litigation. She also counsels clients on settlement negotiations and the preparation of settlement and licence agreements.
Ms Aktaş advises clients and has been involved in court actions on data exclusivity conflicts.
She is a member of the INTA Anti-counterfeiting Committee and has been selected by the IP Experts Group to assist the International Anti-counterfeiting Coalition IP Advisory Board.
Ms Aktaş is also a member of the International Association for the Protection of Intellectual Property and MARQUES.
