Michael Rüberg is a partner at BOEHMERT & BOEHMERT, one of Germany’s largest IP firms, working out of the firm’s Munich and Dusseldorf offices.

Dr Rüberg’s practice is focused on patent litigation in various legal sectors. He is frequently involved in the coordination and resolution of multinational, cross-border patent disputes. In addition, he provides legal advice on licensing issues, technology transfer, patent entitlement and employee invention disputes.

Dr Rüberg studied law at the Universities of Bochum and Munster and earned his doctorate in law at the University of Cologne. He also has an LLM in intellectual property from King’s College London.

Before joining BOEHMERT & BOEHMERT, Dr Rüberg was active both as in-house counsel and group leader in the IP department of BMW AG and as a patent litigator for Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer.

Dr Rüberg is a global fellow of the US Federal Circuit Bar Association and a member of its leadership committee. He was recently appointed as co-chair of the Sedona Conference's working group on cross-border discovery. Dr Rüberg is a visiting professor at Xiangtan University, China and frequently publishes on various IP topics. The Legal 500 places particular emphasis on his work in the field of patent litigation and mentions his “utmost professionalism” and “business-minded approach”.

Dr Rüberg is a member of various professional associations, including the German Association for the Protection of Intellectual Property, the Association of Intellectual Property Experts, the Licensing Executives Society and the International Association of Intellectual Property.
