Martin M Zoltick has been practising in IP law for over 25 years. He has represented a wide range of clients – including independent inventors, entrepreneurs, emerging businesses, middle market and mature companies, as well as investors and venture capitalists – in all aspects of patent, trademark, copyright and related IP matters. A substantial portion of Mr Zoltick’s practice is focused on handling matters before the US Patent and Trademark Office, including post-grant proceedings before the Patent Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB) and the preparation and prosecution of patent applications in a broad range of technologies and fields, with a focus on computer software and telecommunications.
Mr Zoltick’s practice includes counselling early-stage start-up technology companies in developing IP strategies and implementing those strategies to secure IP rights, build a portfolio of IP assets and monetise those assets through strategic investments, licensing, enforcement and acquisition. He has handled all aspects of transactional matters, including drafting, negotiation, due diligence and enforcement involving licensing, strategic alliances, joint ventures, mergers and acquisitions and reseller, original equipment manufacturer, independent software vendor, technology development, consulting and employment agreements involving a broad range of technologies and fields, including computer software and hardware, telecommunications, digital audio and music, internet and e-commerce, chemical coatings and compositions, pharmaceuticals and apparel.
Mr Zoltick has extensive patent litigation experience and has served as trial counsel in major patent disputes in the US federal district courts and in Section 337 actions before the International Trade Commission. He also has substantial experience in preparing patent infringement and validity opinions; handling transactional matters involving IP rights, software licensing and development and consulting agreements; and counselling clients on patent strategies, due diligence and portfolio development, valuation and acquisition.
Mr Zoltick has been listed on the Washington DC Super Lawyers list since 2013 and is recognised as a Patent Star in the District of Columbia by Managing Intellectual Property.
