Leo Jessen began his career as a patent attorney in 1992 with VO. Mr Jessen studied industrial design engineering and, after passing his attorney exams, studied law.

Most of Mr Jessen’s clients come from the field of mechanical engineering and he specialises in consumer products, medical appliances and ergonomics.

Mr Jessen defines his clients’ IP strategy and files, prosecutes or defends their IP rights worldwide. This also includes challenging third-party rights, licensing and freedom-to-operate studies. Mr Jessen has broad experience in patent cases before the court in The Hague and before the European Patent Office.

Mr Jessen is involved in the training of new patent attorneys in Dutch, European and international patent practice. He is also chair of the IP enforcement and litigation group of the International Federation of Intellectual Property Attorneys.
