Dag Sandart specialises in IP law – chiefly, patents, copyright and trademarks. On several occasions, Mr Sandart has acted as a coordinator for clients whose patent and copyright disputes take place in a number of European jurisdictions.
Since 1980 Mr Sandart has acquired comprehensive experience in assisting Swedish and foreign clients with negotiating and drafting contracts and handling IP rights disputes. These contract negotiations often concern licensing, acquisitions or joint ownership of IP rights and research collaborations. His patent litigation experience has mainly involved the pharmaceutical and biotech fields, but has also covered mechanical and electronic patents and other technical fields. His copyright dispute experience has mainly involved rights relating to images and works of applied art, while his trademark experience has involved matters concerning Swedish and European trademark infringement and trademark applications.
Mr Sandart is also active in the regulatory field for foodstuffs and pharmaceuticals and in mergers and acquisitions between small and medium-sized enterprises. These clients are predominantly manufacturing industry players or advertising and media agencies.
Mr Sandart is often engaged as a speaker at IP rights seminars.
Mr Sandart graduated from the University of Stockholm in 1980 (LLM) and Linkoping Technical University in 1975. He has been a member of the Swedish Bar Association since 1985 and became partner at Sandart & Partners Advokatbyrå in 1986.
Mr Sandart is a member of the European Patent Lawyers Association, the International Association for the Protection of Intellectual Property, the Association Litteraire et Artistique Internationale and the corresponding Swedish national organisations. He is also a member of the Licensing Executives Society and several other Swedish and international IP rights associations.
Mr Sandart speaks English, German and Swedish.
