Founding Partner at SP Law
Benny Spiewak is founding and managing partner of SP Law. He runs the firm’s IP, technology and life sciences practices. He also heads the firm’s Israel desk.
Mr Spiewak specialises in law, regulation and legislative policy affecting IP-driven, technology, R&D-intensive and highly regulated industries. He is admitted to practise law in Brazil and obtained his LLB from Mackenzie Presbyterian University Law School, Sao Paulo. Mr Spiewak is certified in IP and technology law by the Getulio Vargas Foundation, Sao Paulo and by the Franklin Pierce Law Centre, New Hampshire. He obtained his LLM in IP law, with a focus on food and drug law, from the George Washington University.
For nine years, Mr Spiewak headed the IP and innovation practice at KLA-Koury Lopes Advogados. In 2007 he was the Brazilian representative at the WIPO Academy in Geneva. In 2009 he was a foreign associate with the IP and Policy Office of the Biotechnology Innovation Organisation, Washington DC. Mr Spiewak acts as assistant professor of technology law and intellectual property at the Continuing Education School of the Brazilian Bar Association (Sao Paulo Section) and the WIPO Academy in Geneva. He is head tutor of patent law for the WIPO e-learning platform, as well as a member of the editorial board of leading Latin America anti-corruption publication Legal, Ethics and Compliance. Mr Spiewak is a board member and executive director of the Brazilian Intellectual Property Association and an international member of both the American Bar Association and the American Intellectual Property Law Association.
