Thomas Adam is a founding partner of Simmons & Simmons’ Munich office, specialising in patent litigation in the life sciences and telecommunications, media and technology sectors, including infringement actions and invalidation proceedings. He wrote his PhD thesis on patent infringement in Europe at the Max Planck Institute for Intellectual Property and has co-authored (with two judges of the German Federal Court of Justice) contributions in the leading German legal commentary on the European Patent Convention (Benkard, second edition). Dr Adam is a member of associations such as the International Association for the Protection of Intellectual Property, the Licensing Executives Society and the Intellectual Property Owners Association, and frequently speaks on recent developments in European patent litigation at international conferences.
