Robert A Stewart is chief counsel of intellectual property at NYSE Euronext. He handles IP litigation, prosecution, licensing, contractual and M&A matters. Before joining NYSE Euronext, Mr Stewart worked as the chief patent counsel of UBS AG in the Americas, was the first patent counsel at Credit Suisse and was IP counsel at JPMorgan Chase Bank. In private practice, he worked for BakerBotts LLP in New York. Mr Stewart graduated from Georgetown University Law Centre with an JD degree and the Polytechnic Institute of New York University with an electrical engineering degree. He formerly chaired the Financial Services Roundtable Intellectual Property Working Group. He has lectured extensively on IP issues within the financial services industry, including testimony before the House of Representatives Committee on the Judiciary, Subcommittee on Courts, the Internet and Intellectual Property regarding proposed legislation, much of which was either incorporated into the America Invents Act or adopted by the federal judiciary.
