Pier Luigi is a founder and the managing partner of the firm. He has extensive experience in litigation and extrajudicial matters, as well as in strategic advice in all areas of intellectual property. Pier Luigi regularly assists clients in complex negotiations and disputes both domestically and internationally, as well as in the planning of comprehensive anticounterfeiting programs. He represents clients in civil, criminal and administrative proceedings before all of the Italian courts as well as the General Court and the Court of Justice of the European Union, the Italian PTO (Patent and Trademark Office) and the EUIPO (European Intellectual Property Office).
In 2009, Pier Luigi and a group of close associates founded the law firm Siblegal, which later changed its name to Spheriens. Previously, Pier Luigi was of counsel for many years with the consulting firm SIB (Società Italiana Brevetti), and from 1996 to 2008 headed its Florence office, where he established and grew its legal department.
Pier Luigi routinely holds lessons at Harvard Law School’s Fashion Law Lab, at King’s College (London) for IP litigation in the fashion world, and at the Master course in Luxury Goods Management – EMLUX organized by the Università Cattolica of Milan, in the Bachelor of Science in Economics and Management for Arts, Culture and Communication at the Bocconi University in Milan as well as at the LL.M in Intellectual Property Law organized by WIPO (World Intellectual Property Organization) and the Università degli Studi of Turin. From 2002 to 2013 he was adjunct professor of IP law in the department of economics of the Università degli Studi of Florence.
Pier Luigi handles the legal aspects of intellectual property protection for Altagamma Foundation and since 2000 has been a member of the Editorial Board of the Italian IP law review Giurisprudenza annotata di diritto industriale, for which he contributes notes and comments. Pier Luigi is also a member of the Advisory Board of The Trademark Reporter® and of the EU Subcommittee on Non-Traditional Marks of INTA (International Trademark Association), as well as of other important national and international IP organizations such as ECTA (European Communities Trade Mark Association), SISPI (Società Italiana per lo Studio della Proprietà Intellettuale), MARQUES (Association of European Trade Mark Owners) and AIPLA (American Intellectual Property Law Association). Pier Luigi was, furthermore, a member of the Board of Directors of INTA from 2009 to 2011, Editor in Chief of The Trademark Reporter® from 2012 to 2013 and currently serves as Chair of the EU Subcommittee on Non-Traditional Marks of INTA.
