Dr. Melanie Lödige is specialized in the chemical, pharmaceutical and life sciences sectors. As a patent attorney, she advises small and medium-sized companies as well as domestic and international corporations and assists them in implementing their IP strategy.

She completed her academic studies with her diploma thesis on the chemoenzymatic synthesis of (S)-bupropion as well as on the diastereoselective reduction of derivatives of (R)-3-Cl-HPP.

In her doctoral thesis under Prof. Dr. Dr. h.c. mult. G. Bringmann she then dealt with various topics at the interface between natural product synthesis, natural product isolation and medicinal chemistry, especially in the field of malaria and leishmaniasis as well as in the field of binary toxins (anthrax).

The doctoral period was followed by research on enantioselective carbenoid insertions in alkylboronic acid esters and studies on reductive cyclization to cis-configured N-Boc-5-Phenylpyrrolidine-2-carboxylic acid derivatives.

As a postdoctoral fellow at the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia (Prof. Dr. Dr. h.c. mult. J. D. Lambris), she worked on the design and synthesis of peptide exosite inhibitors of protein-protein interaction of the complement system as well as bioconjugates to improve pharmacokinetic profiles.

She then worked on the synthesis of nucleotide substances with antibacterial activity at the Academy of Sciences in Prague.

Dr. Melanie Lödige completed her training as a patent attorney in Munich.

Since November 2019 she has been supporting the team of COHAUSZ & FLORACK with her scientific expertise as well as her enthusiasm for intellectual property rights and legal issues.

She advises clients in German, English and French.
